The Master of Education (M.Ed.) is a 90‑ECTS programme awarded jointly by Institut Brittany d’Enseignement Supérieur (IBES) and Jesselton University College (JUC). It is designed for teachers, educational leaders and professionals involved in public or corporate training. The programme focuses on the theoretical and practical knowledge needed to transform educational institutions in a rapidly changing environment.

On completion of the programme, students will be able to:

Assessments
Assessment is 100% coursework. Each taught module is assessed through a management report of 3,500‑4,000 words, based on real leadership issues or problems in the student’s own organisation. The dissertation is assessed through the submission of a 20,000‑word thesis, a research proposal, a viva voce examination, and a series of criteria including introduction, literature review, methodology, presentation of findings, discussion, conclusions, recommendations, presentation and originality.
Entry Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree in any subject from a recognised institution.

English language proficiency: IELTS overall band 5.5 or equivalent; or a qualification taught and assessed in English at EQF level 2 or above; or passing an ESOL Awards B2 level test.

Mature applicants may be considered on a case‑by‑case basis.
Advanced Standing / Exemptions / Credits Transfer (APL)
Credit transfer may be considered for prior certificated or experiential learning, subject to academic judgement by a designated panel. Where cohorts are regularly admitted with advanced standing, an Academic Progression Agreement is required.

Students must complete all modules and the dissertation to earn the full 90 ECTS. Those who do not complete the full programme may exit with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education after gaining 60 ECTS.
Mode of Delivery
Two delivery modes are available:

Fully Online: Self‑instructional learning materials provided via a Learning Management System, with online discussions and tutor support.

Blended Learning: Self‑instructional materials, face‑to‑face tutorials (12 hours per module), and online discussions.
Both modes require a minimum of 8 hours of online discussion per module.

Blended mode: 18 hours lectures/tutorials + 8 hours online interaction + 164 hours directed independent learning = 190 hours total.
